Tapee Tea Packaging & Storage: Keeping Every Cup Fresh

Herbal tea is at its best when it is fresh. Tapee Tea is a caffeine-free blend of fifteen Thai botanicals, finely ground and sealed into tea bags, and its bright, earthy character depends on protecting the blend from the four things that dull any herbal tea: light, air, moisture, and heat. This guide explains how Tapee Tea is packaged and how to store it at home so every cup tastes the way it should.

How Tapee Tea is packaged

Tapee Tea is blended and packed in Thailand, close to where its botanicals are grown, and sealed soon after blending to lock in aroma. The tea bags are protected inside a high-barrier foil pouch that keeps out light and moisture — the two factors that fade colour and mute aroma fastest. Each pack carries a batch reference so a specific lot can be traced back to its blend and packing date.

Kept sealed in that pouch, the blend holds its character well. The steps below simply help you keep it that way once the pack is open.

The ideal place to store it

Aim for a spot that is cool, dark, and dry:

  • Temperature: a steady room temperature, roughly 15–25°C (59–77°F). Avoid warm spots near a stove, kettle, or window.
  • Light: keep it out of direct sunlight — a cupboard or pantry is ideal.
  • Humidity: below about 60%. Moisture is the enemy of any dry tea, so keep it away from the sink, kettle steam, and the fridge.
  • Aromas: store away from strong-smelling spices or coffee, which dry tea can absorb over time.

The best container at home

The original foil pouch is already a good container — press out the air and reseal it after each use. If you prefer to decant, an airtight glass jar or a lined metal tin kept in a dark cupboard works well. A few practical notes:

  • Glass jars seal well and don’t react with the tea, but keep them out of the light.
  • Tins block light nicely; choose a food-grade lined tin.
  • We don’t recommend refrigerating the tea — the fridge introduces moisture and competing aromas that can flatten the flavour.

How long it stays fresh

Stored sealed and away from light and moisture, Tapee Tea is at its best within roughly 12–18 months. It doesn’t spoil suddenly; it simply softens in intensity over time. You’ll know a pack is past its prime if the colour looks faded, the dry aroma is muted, or the brewed cup tastes flat rather than warm and spiced. If you drink a cup a day, most pack sizes are comfortably finished well inside that window — and you can always start with a smaller pack before committing to a larger one.

Storing larger packs

If you keep a bigger supply on hand, divide it into a small “in use” jar and keep the rest sealed in its pouch in a cool, dark place. Opening the main supply less often means less exposure to air, so the bulk of the tea stays fresher for longer.

Freshness is really about flavour

Good storage isn’t complicated: keep the tea sealed, cool, dark, and dry, and it will keep rewarding you with the same deep amber colour and warm, woody-spiced aroma it had on day one. If you’re new to the blend, our guide to brewing the perfect cup pairs naturally with these storage tips.
